La Semaine internationale du libre accès 2025 (du 20 au 26 octobre) pose une question cruciale : « Qui contrôle nos connaissances ? » Le thème de cette année invite la communauté scientifique à s’interroger non seulement sur qui a accès à la recherche, mais aussi sur la manière dont le savoir est créé, partagé et valorisé. Ce rapport explore quatre dimensions clés du thème 2025 – le contrôle, la création, la reconnaissance et l’accès – tout en mettant en évidence des événements et des développements notables qui illustrent comment les communautés du monde entier s’efforcent de garantir que les connaissances servent le bien commun plutôt que des intérêts commerciaux.

International Open Access Week 2025 (October 20-26) asks a critical question: “Who owns our knowledge?” This year’s theme challenges the scholarly community to examine not only who has access to research, but also how knowledge is created, shared, and valued. This report explores four key dimensions of the 2025 theme—control, creation, recognition, and access—while highlighting notable events and developments that illustrate how communities worldwide are working to ensure knowledge serves the common good rather than commercial interests.

This report offers a brief recap of the 2nd Global Summit on Diamond Open Access, held from 11–13 December 2024 at the University of Cape Town. The summit convened 1,171 participants (546 in-person, 625 virtual) from 73 countries, with a notable representation from the Global South and African nations. Sessions were delivered in multiple languages including English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili. The Toluca – Cape Town Declaration on Diamond Open Access, presented at the Summit, is also included, as are the key takeaways listed in a post-Summit report released by organizers.
