Recap of the 3rd Global Summit on Diamond Open Access and the Bengaluru Roadmap for Diamond Open Access (2026)
This report provides a summary of the Third Global Summit on Diamond Open Access, which took place from February 2-6, 2024 in Bengaluru, India. The gathering included presenters from Canadian, regional, and international open access organizations, as well as governments and universities from around the world. There were 168 in-person attendees from 28 countries and 179 online participants from 33 countries. One outcome of the summit was the Bengaluru Roadmap for Diamond Open Access, which offers directions for promoting diamond OA among multiple stakeholder groups.

Perceptions, Impact, and the State of Open Peer Review
This insights and signals report provides an overview of recent open peer review policies and initiatives. Open peer review fosters greater openness throughout the review process: it could entail practices ranging from simply making reviewer identities known to authors to providing readers access to the identities of peer reviewers and their review reports. This practice is gaining traction to improve the transparency and equity in the peer review process. However, there are diverse models and considerations needed in the adoption of open peer review, such as unequal participation, reluctance to make reviewers’ identities public, and inconclusive evidence of its benefits and possible downsides.

The 7th annual gathering of the Canadian Australian Partnership for Open Scholarship (CAPOS), held on 2-3 December 2025 at the Australian National University in Canberra, brought together a vibrant group of scholars, policymakers, industry experts, and advocates to discuss recent developments in artificial intelligence and open scholarship. This year’s theme “Re-Defining Open Social Scholarship in an Age of Generative ‘Intelligence’” provided reflection points into how artificial intelligence is changing the open scholarship landscape for Canadian and Australian researchers and stakeholders.
